May

So we wont be going to Kansas City until May. I would like to think that this is for the best...but I am having a hard time trusting...

Scheduling Nightmare

Well, as I posted some time ago, Knox (the church we are one of two at in Kansas City) wants us to come out and visit. Now, planning this visit, is a whole other story. This has to be planned around me preaching at my SPM, the need for me to come up and preach and be reviewed by my home presbytery, and graduation, which is just around the corner on May 14th. I initially tried to move everything around so that Kadra and I could visit over the weekend of April 10th. This moved my sermon at my SPM up a week earlier, but then Knox called Sunday, April 3rd in the evening, and it was then they told me that April 10th might be too soon. This would have been nice to know before I moved all the preaching around. They also said that April 17th might work, which I had already planned for me to go up to ND to preach for my presbytery. Fortunately, if that weekend works for us to visit Knox, then my home presbytery will re-schedule. Hopefully, all of this gets figured out with Knox tonight, when their committee when they call to set something up and finalize it in stone.

With that being said, the sermon this past weekend was very powerful. I felt the Holy Spirit moving amongst the congregation, especially in the second service. As powerful as that was, that evening I really believe that we experienced spiritual warfare. First, Knox called and that was a tough conversation simply because that is when they informed me that April 10th probably would not work and be too soon. This would have been nice to know at the beginning of the week because I did a lot of work to try to move things around, for the right people to talk to other right people, and then wrote my sermon a week earlier than expected along with the exegesis paper that my presbytery requires. Where this work had to be done, it was put up against a much sooner than expected deadline than I had thought. That night, a pretty bad storm came in. It hailed like crazy over our neighborhood, but not even a mile on either side of us it did not hail at all. Since we only have a one car garage, one car got hailed on, which happened to be the camry. Where we have full coverage, this was a stress we simply do not need or want to deal with right now.

So, please be praying for us. We are in a very busy time and deadlines are looming around all sides. I have been thoroughly comforted through out the process. God seems to be confirming Knox, but my doubt often gets in the way. We wont know for sure until they extend a call, but I am hopeful.

My time at UDTS, for better or for worse, is coming to an end. For as many of you that have been following me throughout the process know that God wanted us here all along. We have seen mountains and valleys, highs and lows, as well as smiles and tears. But, though we walk through the valley of any portion of life, our God is for us. And if our God is for us, who can be against us? For those who are in Christ are a new creation, heirs, and all things will work out for those who are in Christ. Despite any struggles, persecution, or even joys, we will always have the God looking out for us. We will always have Christ praying for us. And to this, any spiritual warfare is null and void. This is a strong and re-assuring reminder, one that I need to take rest in. And maybe if you are reading this, you do too.

Thanks for your continued prayers. I will try to give an update by the end of the week. These next few months are going to be crazy.

In Christ....
